You know, at 53 years old, I have only had two auto accidents in my life.
The first one was minor as I rolled into a car while looking over my left shoulder waiting for traffic to clear so I could make a right turn. The car ahead of me had pulled forward and I swear she had taken the turn, but she had, in fact, chickened out and stopped again for a clearer chance. Poor lady still had her temporary tags on the car. She had JUST bought it.
My second accident happened the week before last just four houses up the street from mine. Less than half a block from home.
I make a right turn onto my street a block away from my driveway. My cel phone had slid off the seat and I, as usual, reached over to fetch it back up, temporarily taking my eyes off the road. I've done this a million times in my life.
My wagon has manual steering, and if you've ever had the same you'd understand what happened next.
I bumped the curb with the passenger side tire and the steering wheel spun ALL the WAY to the right, ripping the wheel from my hand. I was maybe five feet away from a well built brick mailbox and drove right over the top of it, knocking it down along the way.
As I remember it, the Slant Six engine hardly lost any RPM. A serious Torque Monster that engine is.
Well here are some pictures of my newly adjusted 1970 Plymouth Belvedere Wagon.
I, too, am crushed. Perhaps beyond repair, my heart that is...

I got a 70 Belvedere Wagon with the /6 and a 3 speed tranny.
I found out the hard way that a similar tranny from a V8 don't work real good.
I forgot the old adage- "Measure Twice, Cut once"
I wasn't cutting nothing but I forgot to do some preliminary measurement before installation. That story can end here...

What I need for the matching replacement is:

*23-1/4 overall length of casing
*15" Tail Housing
*Inspection Cover on the top side
*1-1/8" Diameter output output shaft
*26 Spline

Any help on the info I need would be paid forward ASAP

Thanks,
Rennie

My thanks to Allen Vasut for giving me some old 3-speed transmissions & other parts for my wagon. Also, I thank Kurt Schuster for bringing them to Fort Worth, which saved me many miles of travel! What a pleasure it is to be a part of a fantastic Car Club. My wife René & I have felt at home with the Club at the events we've attended!
Thanks again Allen.

Well when you said 4 gauge I was thinking overkill, but that what we have for the battery cables, right? I have plenty of 4 gauge laying around from car stereo applications & I can get some lugs from work. I recall the 70 Charger we owned some years ago and the owner before me had run a wire thru a new hole in the fire wall to run for the connection tfrom the ammeter to the starter relay. I've never liked ammeters as all the positive connections must pass thru it first.
Where might I look to find a one wire alternator for my Mopar? I had one in my chevelle, you can find Generic Motors stuff anywhere. But I've never looked, or thought of installing one in the wagon. I'm sure there would be one of higher amperage which would allow me to run a "proper" stereo. Jegs? Summit? Locally?

Thanks for the reply,

I just spent a couple of hours tracing wires from Alternator thru the bulkhead and back thru the fusible link to the battery on my 70 B-body. I had just over 13.8 volts at the alternator and it would rise & fall with engine speed & I had the same voltage at bulkhead "P" which sends the positive voltage to a buss of which one lead goes to the ammeter & straight back to bulkhead "J" to the fusible link and to 'Battery" on the starter relay. I could only get 11-12 volts at Bat+. I cleaned the connectors at both the male & female connector "J" and i still had the problem

To fix the problem temporarily I ran a 12 Gauge wire from the alternator to the fusible link which I had disconnected from the bulkhead "J". I now have alternator voltage at Bat+. The ammeter does not work now of course. But the battery has 13.8vdc at Bat+ & will now charge the battery.

I really hate to change the wiring to the bat+. I did use the female spade connector to the Bat+ and put some heat shrink on my new connection. it is a clean connection. The wire from the ammeter goes straight to connection "J" without connecting to anything else on it's way to the bulkhead

My question is has anyone else had this issue with wire coming from the Ammeter back thru the firewall to the battery positive. If so, share your fix with me. I'd hate for something bad to happen.
